The Cleverly Named Page is so named after spending several hours trying to register various site names. Everything that came to mind was rejected as unavailable (already taken), even when using a thesaurus to try variants of desired words. In a final spasm, my brain realized that I just wanted a cleverly named page, typed as much in the Blog Domain box, and hit “Create Blog” once more.
It felt like I was in a Douglas Adams script when WordPress accepted the name, and I was stuck with it.
Welcome to my site. There will be a mix of stuff here, writing and media, commentary and opinion, pointers and tips. Some of it will be chaff, hopefully the odd nugget will prove to be useful wheat.
I don’t aim for controversy here, but these days it’s pretty hard to speak any handful of words and avoid making someone mad, no matter how benign the subject is or far out to lunch the reader might be. In the event that something is posted which could be taken as offensive, please remember:
a) The purpose of this site is for me to offer my ideas and opinions. I do my best to think my positions through before I toss them into the open.
b) In the unlikely event that you do find yourself bothered over something here, I’m kinda glad. Complacent people are of no use to anyone (except those with sinister agendas who count on mass inaction), and if I’ve spurred you to think about something, that’s good – whether you agree with me or not.
c) You’re alive and reading a blog. Be happy. Millions of other souls on this planet have no hope of remaining alive in the next 24 hours, or face an existence that doesn’t include blog reading. We are lucky to toss ideas around and debate them.
